The Green Network will get rid of throwaway culture.
The Green Network is an infrastructure that is implemented across New York City in the year 2040. The main aim is to reduce food waste.
This will be achieved by stopping cafes that offer takeaway services from using throwaway materials by creating a system for cleaning and returning cups, cutlery, plates and bowls etc, and a method for sending waste food t composts.
It features a series of recycle stations across the city where customers all tip their goods. From here waste materials are sent via an underground pipe to a centre, where they are sorted into either materials or foods. Foods are sent to compost, while plates, cutlery etc will be cleaned and sent back to affiliated coffee shops. Customers receive points for using the service that go towards future purchases and it will also save business money from buying materials and wasted food.
