How might we help people decrease screen time, get moving, and increase engagement with their environment?
Movefulness reduces screen time and replaces it with physical activity, increases engagement with the world, and overcomes top barriers to exercise such as lack of motivation, impulse for instant gratification, decision fatigue, and people feeling like they don't have time.
Movefulness is a mobile app providing customized adventures for users based on preferences and situational factors.
User Preferences include:
Saved Locations (Home, Work, other)
Types of Activities (e.g., swimming, walking, running, gym, dance, yoga, etc.)
Fitness Level (includes options to specify physical limitations)
Personality Scale: Spontaneous (5 levels) vs. Routine (5 levels)
Environments: Museum, Nature, Urban, Mall, etc.
You can choose to "get moving" now or set a time later in the day, use your current location or set a new one, specify how much time you have, what your budget is for an activity, and how much energy you have. To keep things fresh and dynamic, each activity is directed by a choice of AI's. The individual AI's each provide turn-by-turn directions, prompts for exercises, and status updates to go along with exercises. The user can specify a gender and a role that they would like their AI to play:
1) Tour Guide: Provides commentary to go along with outdoor activities including fun facts, historical info, architectural details, civic engagement points, site-seeing, geography, botany, zoology, etc.
2) Mindfulness Coach: Breathing exercises, prompts for focusing on the senses, observations, the present moment, relaxation, and gratitude.
3) Personal Trainer: Motivation, Circuit Training, Targets and Status
4) Music: Background music with simple directions and prompts (linked to user's music services or local files)
The User's Dashboard includes statistics in the form of "WINS" having to do with time spent on the move and number or duration of top activities completed. Users begin at Adventurer Level 1 and level up by number of sessions completed. There is an option to sync with your fitbit data.
A demo might look like this...
User logs in and chooses a 10 minute activity, starting NOW at their current location (HOME)...
They have a mellow energy level, they want a free activity, and they want a Mindfulness Coach AI...
"Notice your surroundings, count 6 sounds..."
"Count 6 colors..."
"Take a deep breath in... hold for a count of 5... Slowly release..."
"Feel your spine relaxing. Shift your weight slowly from your left foot to your right, and then come to center."
"Notice your heart beat. Slow your heart with two deep breaths."

"Your ten minute mindfulness session is now complete. Congratulations."
